Behind The Music: Yeröm

Yeröm, we're absolutely thrilled to welcome you back to the label! We're kicking off 2024 with a bang thanks to your incredible new two-track single, Time. We are really pumped about this release!

Could you share the inspiration that drove these tracks and the message you aimed to deliver through this single?

The goal of this two-track EP was to create a combination of progressive club tunes that fit well together. I tried to combine the bass heavy kicks and rolling basses with floating melodies. Personally, I like tracks that vary between driving, invariant notes and breaks with melancholic chord progressions. This was the initial idea for this release, and I hope I could fulfil this.

What usually ignites your creative process? Are there specific techniques or routines you rely on to initiate a new project?

Mostly, I start my tracks by creating the kick, drums, and bass (also both tracks “Time” and “Impact”). The bass notes set for me the structure of the song, which makes it easier to come up with all other sounds.

In what ways have musicians or musical styles left a significant mark on the development of your music?

I would say that the melodic techno scene has the biggest impact on my style. I have been following the music of many artists in this genre such as Mind Against, Tale of Us, Kevin de Vries, Adriatique and many more. However, I try to find my own sound and not to compare my tracks to much while producing.

Which Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) do you prefer for your productions, and what factors led to your choice of this software?

I have been using FlStudio ever since I am producing. Over the years I really got familiar to this DAW and most of my mixing processes got automated. I am mostly using external plugins such as Waves tools for processing, U-He, Arturia or Serum for synths and many different sample packs for one-shot sounds.

Each producer tends to rely on certain plugins that are indispensable. Could you share a VST plugin that has become a vital component of your production arsenal? How does it contribute to shaping your sound?

U-He Diva is used in every track of mine for synths, pads and basses. This plugin has so much to offer and contributes a lot to all my tracks.

Among Sync Forward's diverse releases, is there a track from the label that you feel a strong connection to? What about it resonates with you personally?

The track “Backlash” together with Remotion is my favourite among the excellent portfolio of Sync Forward. I especially have a strong connection to this one as it was a fun process to collaborate with my good friends Remotion. I had such a good time meeting the label owner in their studio in Porto, while drinking beers and working on this tune.
